On the Gen 2 B58, the upper cylinder head coolant neck is plastic, and it sits right in the path a charge pipe takes if it blows off. A hit there can snap the neck and dump the coolant in seconds. Best case you're stranded; worst case the engine is damaged. This billet and silicone hose sits just above the plastic neck as cheap insurance.
