Flex fuel lets the engine computer read the ethanol content of what's in the tank and blend the tune from pump gas to E85 on the fly. You don't have to work out mixes at the pump or reflash between maps. Dorch's Gen 1 kit puts a genuine Continental ethanol sensor on the CAN bus, so it talks to the DME directly.
What you get
- Zeitronix ECA-CAN module and a genuine Continental ethanol sensor.
- Dorch plug-and-play harness that ties into the factory wiring: no cutting and no wire taps.
- Custom PTFE hose set, a pre-cut firewall grommet and mounting parts.
Good to know
- The sensor sits close to the injectors, so the reading matches what's actually being burned.
- Everything tucks under the factory insulation and engine covers, and the kit is fully reversible.
- Dorch puts install time at about 1 hour on its own, or about 30 minutes extra when done with a pump install.
- Pick your chassis group and pump: a Dorch pump, the B58TU (Gen 2) pump used as a Gen 1 upgrade, or an original Dorch DS1/DS2.
- Flex fuel needs a tune that supports it.
- Fits Gen 1 B58 cars through the 2019 model year: M140i, M240i (F22), 340i (F30), 440i (F32), 540i (G30), 640i GT (G32), 740i (G11) and X3/X4 M40i (G01/G02). It does not fit 2020+ (Gen 2) B58 cars.

B58 Fueling Explained: HPFP, LPFP, Port Injection, Flex Fuel and E85
The B58 fuel system has two pumps. The low-pressure pump (LPFP) in the tank feeds the high-pressure pump (HPFP) on the engine, which feeds the direct injectors. On a tuned car, the HPFP is usually the first wall, and eth
B58 HPFP Install: Gen 1 F-Chassis, Gen 2 B58TU and the GR Supra
The B58's high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) bolts to the back of the valve cover, by the firewall. You disconnect the battery, bleed off the pressure by slowly cracking the 17 mm line nuts into rags, then remove the lines,

Start with a tune. It is the biggest gain per dollar on any B58. Then add a downpipe and a Stage 2 map, then an upgraded high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) and an ethanol blend. Only after that should you think about a bigge
